    may...

combination of a series of jump shots around 3 countries =)

hmmm been madly stuck in lab for the past few weeks. luckily lab is ending next week already with the experiments ending soon and hoping that bad karma will leave me and my lab partner. we've been having a lot of problems with our experiments getting our product and the NMR of spectra does not follow the theoratical results. sigh hope our last experiment will be alright though we do not have enough catalyst for next part. SIGH. and lab reports are to be done. SIGH. no motivation for now. totally in holiday mood sigh though work is piling up with seminars to prepare and papers to be read =( who says exchange is relaxing? =(

and i wonder how the master students from other countries manage to get into the master programme when they can't even do simple mole concept questions and read the lab manual and consult us or the TAs before EVERY STEP. its written in details in the lab manual and they ask repeated questions. somemore the guys are like 30 years old and they can't rely on themselves to carry out synthesis of compounds! its just unlucky me and chinma have to stand their answering and kaypohing every now and then in the lab. in class this guy just keep borrowing notes from me and they can't listen to what the teacher is saying! what is the world coming to! they even photocopied my notes! grr. not going to mention any nationalities but they are all guys. sigh. i am just too nice to reject. enough of whining i guess. the course is going to end in less than 2 weeks time and i have another 2 weeks to study for it which i really need to because it just pretty tough to handle with organometallics. =( needs to stop playing games and watching youtube and start working =(

and swine flu / H1N1 hits the world. currently out of the 7 countries i am heading to 6 of them has cases of H1N1 case. we didn't really cancel our trip but we are all monitoring the situation. even sweden now has 1 confirmed case sigh. all my tickets are booked and if i forfeit my place i will still need to pay back gh they all at least 1k+ SGD for the flight and train tickets. its just our luck that this has to happen while we are all on exchange. but hopefully the flu will turn better and not end up like SARS 6 years back. though i really think SG is a bit over paranoid over the swine flu by raising the alert level to orange then back to yellow again but sometimes its better to be more prepared to stop any possible outbreaks. and i have nothing to say over what mexico has been claiming over the quarantine measures by other countries and stuff. was tempted to just say close their borders since many cases of many countries originated from mexico itself but its rather irresponsible to say that. however, despite their pompous behaviour, it is commendable that they did a rather good job to control the spread of flu. but if i eventually did not go for my trip it means that i will be heading home earlier by 1 month which is not too bad i guess =)

enough of serious stuff. nothing interesting much happening these days except for the last day of april where it is suppose to have the valborg bonfire. was up early in the morning at 7.30am to have breakfast with my corridor mates before heading to the park for the wonderful and rare sun shining the whole day! the weather was almost similar to SG except for the chilly winds occasionally and if you are under shade you will get cold easily. i've got a bit of tanned and was happy. joined the SG people but got bored and went back home before joining my corridor mates again back to the park. everyone was basically drunk in the park from drinking since early in the morning (yes i started to drink around 8am) till at night. wine cider yada yada. its a day of drinking for the swedes to so call celebrate the arrival of spring. everyone was just sitting out in the sun, some having bbq and playing ball or card games and drinking games. but the whole park was seriously filled with thrash when i was back at 4pm with almost every area covered and you can't see the grass at all. poor volunteers have to clean up n piles of rubbish and the people did not even bothered to clean up what they drink and even let their mat there. its so freaking inconsiderate and it seemed at least 10 times worst than what we see in SG after count down and events. but overall it was a pretty nice day to know more and hang out with my corridor mates =) labor day most shops were closed and i've only seen a small demostration along the road outside the train station. thought there will be major demostrations. seems like the saying of the swedes do not like to complain is true eh lol. had ice cream out in the sun and was feeling extremely cool. =)

bought my first tub of ben & jerry's ice cream here after 4 months! cost slightly less than 10SGD. going to eat later to share with my corridor mates who've been treating me that since i am here. going to start cooking for them to clear my food stock as well before i leave in less than 1 month's time which is pretty fast i guess. at first it was pretty hard to get by with the harsh winter and lack of people that i know over here. now that i have gotten used to being alone most of the time and sometimes hanging out with some SG people and my corridor mates the days pass really quickly. or rather i think its due to my hectic course. but nevertheless i will be going home soon to meet everyone! yippee! 54 days to reach back SG! =) meanwhile happy holidays guys! =) and happy birthday to the may babies! to ys and my mummy n chau! =)
