in sweden!
okie by the time you guys read this i am already in sweden and its only my 4th day here. thanks to people who sent me off! peishan! huishan! pinting! sandra! da! matt! joo! and our VIP yuting! (who keep askin us to eat the cookie haha) thanks for the gift san n joo! its now hanging in my room =)
on the 1st day, after the long 12 hours flight (which i slept through most of it), we took a train from copenhagen to my small university town and gosh. its super duper cold! despite wearing the long john on the flight before disembarking, i almost froze to death already. and my luggage was delayed for almost an hour sigh. poor airport i guess but they did apologise for the delay though so its not too bad i guess. went down with tracy guanhan and xius to the train and had the hardest time carrying my luggage around because one of them is hard to pull so luckily xius helped me with the another one. then its basically a waiting day where we waited to register for our housing (which i got cheated around 20 SGD - 50SGD for a quilt and a pillow from IKEA! they overcharged me 100SEK by mistake) and then i was sent to my hostel. being blur i cant find the entrance so i was kind of being locked out for almost an hour at the wrong exit till kind souls actually helped me out =) eventually i got saved by one of my corridor mates (phews) and started unpacking like mad, only to realise i am damn hungry and no one is cooking for me! =( sadly i had maggie mee with no other ingredients.
kind of being super homesick on the first few days but being better i guess. still adapting to the jetlag and the time difference of 7 hours plus the fact that daylight is only from 9am to 4pm! so the night seems long. and i am cold. but anyway i had a pretty nice room. everything is from IKEA and basically i felt like i am in an ikea showroom muahaha. (pics will be uploaded after i received my card reader being sent to me) own toilet own fridge own microwave oven just no private kitchen (though its just right outside my room). and the room is huge with 14 square metres! at least its worth my rent i guess (around 800SGD per month!) plus i live right outside the main town and train station (hence its super convenient and safe)
been to 2 swedish lesson and all i can say is that i still cant catch it! the teacher went super fast since its only a 1 week introductory lesson so i am thinking to skip the exams muahaha. think i will study a bit later as my bedtime stories haha. i can get by speaking english throughout though i need to slow down in my talking speed i guess. or maybe i should add in a bit of accent muahaha.
been exploring my small town. the building architecture is pretty magnificent as they date back to the 1800s. and all the buildings here are not higher than perhaps 6 floors and i leave on the 4th storey. its a very nice and quiet town actually. its quite safe to go out alone even at night though it had been said that there are burgary in hostel but my one is being safe with all the safety features. the Swede people though they look hostile, they are all approachable for help and on the second day i think i asked about 10 people to reach my destination of which i walked around 40mintues. even the bus drivers are nice! its just perhaps that they are more slow paced but everything that they do have a system and they are pretty efficient. the buses are super punctual on time as written on the schedule and the bus stop shows the duration for the next bus and their destination! in supermarket you have to pack your own groceries and its such that the things will roll into 1 of the 2 compartments and divide properly. cool eh. the only down side is that EVERYTHING IS ALMOST DOUBLE THE PRICE IN SINGAPORE (esp bus ride that cost S$3+ per ride). sigh. i feel so broke only after 3 days. even the IKEA stuff are almost the same price in Singapore except for the discounted items (a floor mat cost 2SEK = around S$0.40) and their taxes are like 12% and 25%. so why are we to complain with our 7% GST. sigh i shall start appreciating more when i get back in june then.
alright. enough of whining i guess. will upload the photos once i can download them. =) meanwhile Hej då! Vi ses! Hadet Så bra! (bye! seeya! take care!) =)
