curls...
reliefs at ubin during 'free' lunch. ohps.
whoa its finally a day which i can really wake up at a time other than 6am. been doing it for the past 6 days. what a nice day except i am suffering from a slight muscle ache for not exercising for some time.
yup. the pre-session for cruls was yesterday when we met up woth our benefialries, those with intellectual disablity. before we interacted with our kids, we are a short lesson from a volunteer whom had worked at such organisations for years. its really a very enlightening lesson when we are taught how should we really be interacting with them and the part where i have one of my legs tied up and i have to hop around to make my way through those obstacles and the whole group aren't suppose to talk to pass on messages. i can really understand their pain physically and mentally. if i don't have my group members to help me out physically and encouraging me on the way to complete the task, its really going to be a very painful experience to really go through.
so after that session, i gain some confidence and was determined to really work well with my beneficialry. before that, i was already paired up with my kid aswad, who was like slightly bigger in size than me and look very frightening in a sense. so slowly i tried to engage him in conversations. it was pretty hard since he was always with his other friends in the group and we are suppose to keep an eye on them. and the worst case senerio happens. he went missing after lunch after i had a long talk with one of my friend. so i went with the leader of the group to look for him and luckily, we found him within 5 minutes. ahhh. made me quite worried actually. he ended up taking a walk with his friend from the other groups. omg. so we made him promise to inform us when he is leaving away from us.
and so we went off for kayaking. its hard to really coordinate our moves and i have to be really patient in repeating my instructions. but luckily it turned out pretty well. oh yeah. to form a raft, the other group members waited for us to complete 2 'orbits' before reaching the correct position. muahaha. but after that we were pretty quick after i took the back position and controlled the direction after learning the different tactics. a pretty nice experience actually. though it rained, the kayaking session somehow broke part of the barrier between me and him and we are slightly more comfortable with each other now. the fear just somehow vanished from me in interacting with other kids in my group.
this is really a very enriching experience which is very hard to express in words. waiting for the next session to come before the actual event near end june. next session is capsize drill. lets hope that my kid wouldn't be so tensed up. and more volunteers will be around this time. =) luckily my group have some of my other reliefs which really also helped me through this thing. don't regret taking part in this CURLs thing. its really challenge your limits. my limits to be more patient and overcome my fear of the unknown and also the beneficialries' limits to learn something totally new for them though they cant contain their excitement also haha. yeah man. a saturday burnt for something so meaningful and enriching. =) yup volunteer when you have the chance to. i shall perhaps look out for more volunteering then and also quickly master kayaking.
and today was also a pretty nice day. caught xmen3 with dai and free. though some main characters died, its quite an action packed show which somehow caught my attention. being someone who likes superheros since young when i watch basically power rangers every sat ohps, its really a pretty nice movie. was better than da vinci code in my opinion since the book is more engaging and poseidon too where xmen3 has a slightly better storyline. poseidon is a titanic-like show where its just climatic at every part to see them escaping though the father-daughter relationship is touching too.
and yeah i finally completed time crisis II! with 2 credits that is haha. what an accomplishment to me the freak who plays almost every week for half a year now muahaha. arcade freak i am. =) finished within 17 mins and ranked 6th. haha.
nice weekend. more meeting up to do. driving lessons starting. time to rest for school holidays and no more work. oh yeah! exercising time! =) lastly, guitar camp scheduled on 5th to 7th june. anyone interested to join in the hike or just go pop in? =)
